RULES AND REGULATIONS

To keep the 2012 racing season in the "spirit" of mopeds while keeping it fun, fair, and safe for everyone, we have implemented some rules that everyone should follow. All rules are subject to change at any point during the season in order to keep safety a priority.

General Rules

You may race if...

your bike is a moped or it has a variant model that is a moped (ex. Tomos Targa has both a kickstart and pedal start)

your bike has been pre-race inspected and have received an inspection sticker!

you have a full face helmet, long sleeve, gloves, jeans (no shorts!), and boots

you are 18 years or older. Under 18 years need a signed waiver here

You may not race if...

you have a chinese motor (lifan, etc), 4 stroke, or above 80cc. You may race with permission but will not receive points nor prizes :(

your bike does not pass the racing inspection :(

under the influence of drugs or alcohol :(

if using Nitrogen Oxide or other temporary speed boosting substances (AvGas and Octane additives are allowed) :(

General Class Rules

For this season, we are going to be lenient on class restrictions. If your bike does not "fit in", drop us an email. These are case by case and will be judged based on fairness and safety.

Variated mopeds may NOT race in the Open Classes and vise versa. You are allowed to modify your bike as long as it stays within the rules of the class it is registered for. If you bike falls under Junior Open rules, you may race it in the Pro Open class, but not from Pro to Junior!

Specific Class Rules

Variated Class

Does your bike variate or is it a parallelogram? (Dual or single variated transmission)

It is not a scooter, right?

Is it 80cc or less?

14-17in wheels or less are good

Any carb and exhaust

Open frame but moped variated motors only!

You numbers will be Red on a dark background

Junior Open Class

It is not a scooter, right?

It is not variated either?

Original motor model for the frame you use (50cc-65cc kits allowed)

Original frame! (Crossbar on frame is ok)

14-17in wheels or less are good

Carb and exhaust changes are allowed!

You numbers will be Green on a dark background

Pro Open Class

It is not a scooter, right?

It is not variated either?

Engine swaps allowed as long as it is a moped motor (50cc-80cc kits allowed)

Frame modifications allowed as long as it is a moped frame!

14-17in wheels or less are good

Carb and exhaust changes are allowed!

You numbers will be Black on a light background

Rules:

stock class
1) moped cases only
2) 50cc cylinders only (no 50cc kits allowed)
3) no exhaust restrictions
4) no intake or carb restrictions
5) no ignition restrictions
6) no limitations on braking or suspension systems
7) wheels must be 14 or larger
8) twist and go no more than 2 speed automatic (no manual shifters allowed)

70cc e50 class
1) must use e50 cases and transmission
2) must use any 70cc or less PUCH cylinder
must use 2 or 3 shoe type PUCH clutch with unlimited modifications (different springs, re-enforcement plate, cutting shoes, adding clutch material) but clutch must maintain pivot type engagement arms
any crank ok, but must maintain stoke stroke
3) no exhaust restrictions
4) no intake or carb restrictions
5) no ignition restrictions
6) no limitations on braking or suspension systems
7) wheels must be 14 or larger
8) twist and go only no more than 2 speed automatic (no manual shifters allowed)

specials class
1) moped cases only
2) cylinders must be 100cc or less
3) no exhaust restrictions
4) no intake or carb restrictions
5) no ignition restrictions
6) no limitations on braking or suspension systems
7) wheels must be 14 or larger
8) twist and go no more than 2 speed automatic (no manual shifters allowed)
